Kindergarten Boot Camp
Use this program with your kindergarten classes to help them learn schools rules at the beginning of the year!

Peer Mediation
Use this program with upper grade students (3-5).  This is a great program to help lessen discipline referrals.  I suggest training 2 students in each 4th and 5th grade class during their lunch in August.  Try putting a Peer Mediation mailbox outside your door so students can easily drop forms in it.

NewComers Club
Assign a group of 5th grade "Counselor Helpers" to meet new students.  Discuss introductions to new students and have counselor helpers give new students a tour.  New students will be assigned a buddy for the first month.  The buddy will be responsible for checking in with the student and writing a welcome letter.  Host a "Newcomers group" during lunch for the first two weeks.  Students will meet all new students and engage in teambuilding activities

Career Education
Try hosting a career day at your school.  Contact your local professionals.  I host mine for 3-5th grades in May.  The professionals are seated at tables in the gym and the students rotate from table to table every 10 minutes or so.  This gives them an opportunity to learn about a wide variety of jobs.

For younger grades, show Career Videos on morning announcements or in guidance.  Allow students to learn about careers and follow-up with an activity page

Other ideas for Career Ed:

For grades 3-5, give students Career Interest Inventory. (Students will learn what personality type they have). Go though each section and circle the statements that sound like you.  Then add up the amount of circles for each section.  When finished go over jobs with each personality type.
